BASIC Workshop
Create Your Own Intarsia Artwork
Toraj Rahimi and Seyda have taught numerous students in the field of intarsia art at the universities of Tehran and Tabriz as part of their academic art programs. Now, they are excited to share their knowledge and experience with art enthusiasts in Austria.
The BASIC workshops offer a first introduction to the fascinating art of intarsia. For those who wish to delve deeper into this beautiful craft, extended advanced courses spanning several weeks are in preparation.
If you are interested, feel free to ask us for more details.

BASIC Workshop – Structure and Information
The BASIC workshop consists of two parts:
Introduction to the technique of working with a fretsaw on small wooden pieces
Creating your own colorful wood intarsia artwork
No prior knowledge is required for the BASIC workshop — neither in intarsia techniques nor in using a fretsaw (bow saw).
In Part 1, participants will learn and practice how to work with the fretsaw.
In Part 2, each participant will create their first personal intarsia artwork.
For anyone who has never worked with a fretsaw before — or hasn’t used one in a long time — the introductory course (Part 1) is useful and necessary.
If you already have experience with the fretsaw, you are welcome to join only Part 2 of the BASIC workshop.
Workshop Fee:
The BASIC workshop costs €200 (tax-free). If you only attend one day, the fee is €100.
Please pay in cash at the beginning of the workshop day or transfer the amount in advance to the following bank account:
AT87 2032 0325 0225 5578
and bring the payment confirmation with you.
Additional Information for the BASIC Workshop
At the end of the course, you will receive a course confirmation along with proof of payment.

All materials needed for learning and practicing with the fretsaw, as well as for creating your first wood intarsia artwork, are included in the course fee.
If you would like to work on a second piece or choose a custom design, the materials required for that will be charged separately.
Fretsaw Rental or Purchase
You can borrow a fretsaw for the duration of the workshop. Alternatively, you may purchase your own fretsaw and suitable blades directly at the atelier.
